BLOG ENTRY #9: WHY ARE MORE BLACKS HOMELESS IN NEW YORK THAN WHITES (rhetorical question)

 Because they are.

Black people make up less than 30% of the population in New York City, according to statistics, but they appear to make up the majority of the homeless population?

One  source had African-Americans making up 24% of the city population, but also make up 56% of the homeless.

Why?

The question came up when I realized that I don't see many whites sleeping on the subway.
