HOLIDAY TRAIN SHOW 2

I took these with my cell phone and posted them on YouTube.   I recommend visiting the Botanical Garden for the train experience, but I encourage you to go during the week when it may be less  crowded.

BLOG ENTRY #63: I Made a new friend

I was at the New York Botanical Garden today, taping the  Holiday Train Show.  After I finished, I sat on a bench outside and ate a small piece of cake.  After a bite or two, this guy came out, sat in front of me and asked for some of my food.  I gave him a piece of the cake and he left...then came back for another piece.  This time, he (or she) sat directly in front of me to dine.  A few people passing by told me I had a new friend.

To be honest, I was actually afraid.  I enjoyed sharing my food.  The squirrel was so bold  though and I didn't want to get scratched of bitten.

BLOG ENTRY #62: SUBWAYS RUN BY ONE MAN?

I saw this reported on the news and this  Union President  is addressing the situation.

Governor Hochul apparently has a bill which would allow the subways to operate with only the train operator.  Currently, each train has a train operator and a conductor.  The train operator operates the subway, while the conductor opens and closes the doors.  They both do more, but those are the essentials for right now.

I think removing the conductor in favor of one person operating the subway and closing doors is a dumbass idea.

As I previously mentioned, the train operator and conductor do more than operate the subway and open and close doors.  Once the doors are closed, the conductor makes sure nobody is dragged while the train is moving.  If the conductor is removed, nobody will protect riders. The train operator is in the lead car.  his car is out of view in less than five seconds after the doors are closed.

The idea MIGHT work late nights with less customers on the platform.  But during normal hours, a person in the front of the station would have a hard time seeing the end of the platform.

End this dumb idea.

BLOG ENTRY #61: THAT WAS FAST

File this under "You don't get something for nothing", as I prepare to move from New York City within the next year.  And to be fair (or fare), how can the governor defend the mayor while the rest of the state has to pay to ride the bus?

WATCHING YOUTUBE: JANE ELLIOTT

I will occasionally come across videos that are either very informative or very entertaining.  Jane Elliott is one of those every informative ladies. Somewhere in the last 10 years, I have gotten interested in history and some politics.

BLOG ENTRY #59 (with apologies) ELECTION DAY

First, I apologize for posting this picture sideways.  If I transfer from my phone, I can straighten the photo out in the actual blog.
I took the last picture with my phone.  The first two were slipped under my door.  Sadly, Andrew Cuomo should have started with this ad.  Unfortunately, the biggest problem is voter turnout.  I saw in the news that a little over 79K Bronx residents have voted so far.  With early voting and mail-in ballots, there is no reason 90% of the city doesn't vote.
I took this picture and I thought it was odd.  I thought these campaigners were giving bags out to people.

BLOG ENTRY #58: Jury duty plus writer's block

I forgot to mention that I got through jury duty.  I got called to serve October 14th.  I was driving myself crazy about it since last October.  I had a horrible experience with a criminal case around 2016 and I swore I would never serve again.    When I got the notice late last year, I was praying that I wouldn't get the call during the summer.  Really, I was hoping that I would have moved out of New York City.  They got me though.  I lucked out though.  First, I only had to serve two days.  Second, I would have been on a civil case, which is an easier experience.    Civil cases often don't make it to the jury.  I am done for six years, so I can focus on moving from the Bronx.

Today is November 1st.  All morning, I had idea after idea of what I wanted to write.  I am sitting at the computer with writer's block.

PSA: Biopic vs Documentaries

I don't like biopics.  I prefer documentaries. A docuseries is fine. I prefer Broadway plays.  I am not wild about musicals. I have a L...
